Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power explores green hydrogen export corridor to Amsterdam

The corridor would link ACWA Power’s global hydrogen production sites with the Port of Amsterdam

ACWA Power has partnered with Zenith Energy Terminals, GasLog, and the Port of Amsterdam to explore the feasibility of a green hydrogen export corridor.

The corridor would link ACWA Power’s global hydrogen production sites with the Port of Amsterdam.

The collaboration builds on an existing agreement between Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands to boost cooperation in clean hydrogen and other areas.

The collaboration aims to enhance clean energy leadership and promote the use of green hydrogen as a clean fuel.

It is dedicated to establishing viable import corridors, and the Dutch government has earmarked substantial funding for the development of green hydrogen production and distribution, with a focus on imports.

Zenith Energy Terminals, which operates a prominent energy storage and distribution facility in the Port of Amsterdam, is also working on an open-access liquid hydrogen import facility, providing hydrogen producers access to Dutch and European hydrogen markets.

Their liquid hydrogen terminal allows for the importation, storage, regasification, and distribution of liquid hydrogen within the port and its hinterland.

Specialised vessels developed in partnership with GasLog will ensure the safe and efficient transportation of liquid hydrogen from ACWA Power’s production sites to the Port of Amsterdam.
